Right down the street, not across the county

Black River is a small village with a big heart, tucked along the river in the town of Le Ray, right next to Fort Drum. Covenant is proud to call it home. You should not have to drive halfway across Jefferson County to find a church family, and here you do not: we are right in town, ready to know you and walk with you.

Where do I find you?

We are at 28060 Leray Street, in the village of Black River, with our own lot so parking is easy. For most folks in town it is a five-minute trip, if that.

Do I need to know anyone?

Not at all. Come by yourself and you will be met with a warm welcome, never a spotlight. Plenty of people here started as a curious neighbor who just wanted to see what Covenant was about.

What is a Sunday like?

The service starts at 10:00 AM: real worship, a message from the Bible you can carry into your week, and prayer at the end for anyone who wants it. It is friendly and unpretentious, exactly what you would hope for from a hometown church.

Is it a good fit for my family?

Yes. Kids have a secure check-in and their own Kids Church, and there is a nursery and a Connect Room for parents of little ones. Local families come knowing their children are cared for and glad to be here.

Loving our village

Part of the Black River community

A church should be a blessing to the town it sits in. From the food pantry to the people who will pray with you, Covenant tries to be a good neighbor to Black River every week of the year.

A food pantry for neighbors

Our pantry is open to anyone in the Black River area who needs groceries, with no sign-up and no strings. If money is tight, come by, you are welcome.

Midweek Family Nights

One evening a week the whole family comes and splits into groups for men, women, youth, and kids at the same time. It is the simplest way to turn a Sunday visit into real friendships in town.

Homeschool Connections

Teaching your kids at home? Our Homeschool Connections group ties you in with other Black River and North Country families doing the same, for support and shared resources.

Someone to pray with you

You do not have to wait for Sunday to be prayed for. Reach out any time and a caring person from our church family will pray with you about whatever you are facing.

Straight answers

Questions people in Black River ask us

If you have wondered about the church down the street, here are the questions we hear most from folks around Black River.

Where exactly is Covenant Church in Black River?

We are at 28060 Leray Street in the village of Black River, NY 13612, with our own parking right at the building. If you live in Black River, there is a good chance we are only a few minutes from your front door.

Is Covenant Church actually in Black River, or just nearby?

Right in it. Covenant is a Black River church, not a big-city church that lists our town as an afterthought. This community is our home, our neighbors are the people we serve, and the village is where our church family lives, works, and raises kids.

When does Covenant Church meet, and what is a service like?

Sunday worship is at 10:00 AM. You can expect singing that means something, a clear and encouraging message from the Bible, and an unhurried moment to be prayed for afterward. It lasts about an hour and a half, and you never have to do anything you are not ready for.

I live in Black River. Can I just walk in on a Sunday?

Please do. You do not need an invitation, a reason, or your Sunday best. Walk in, grab a seat, and let us get to know you. Some of the best friendships here started with a neighbor who simply decided to check us out one weekend.

What do you have for children in Black River?

Kids are signed in through a secure check-in and enjoy their own age-appropriate Kids Church during the service, with a nursery for the littlest ones and a Connect Room where parents can settle a fussy baby while still seeing the service. Local families can count on their children being safe and looked after.

Does Covenant Church do anything for the Black River community?

Yes. We run a food pantry that is open to any neighbor who needs groceries, no membership or paperwork required, and we host community events through the year. Loving this village in practical ways is a big part of why the church exists.

What goes on at the church during the week?

Midweek Family Nights bring men, women, youth, and kids together on the same evening, each with their own group, so a whole household can come at once. There is also a Homeschool Connections group for families teaching at home nearby. It turns a Sunday visit into a real week-to-week community.
