Isaiah 55:8

You are ten minutes from home when the orange sign appears: ROAD CLOSED. Not slowed down. Not down to one lane. Closed. There is a barricade across the whole road, flashing lights, and a worker pointing every car to the left. You know the road straight ahead by heart. You do not know the road to the left.

So the GPS starts talking. “Rerouting.” You turn onto a road you have never driven, then another, then a narrow back road with no streetlights. For a few minutes, it honestly feels like you are going the wrong direction.

But the map can see something you cannot. It can see the closed road. It can see the other roads. It can see the whole route from above. That is sometimes what following God feels like.

Isaiah 55:8 says, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD.”

A detour does not always mean you missed God. Sometimes the road you wanted is simply not the road He is using.

You can panic because the route changed, or you can trust that God sees farther than you do. The road may look unfamiliar.

That does not mean you are lost.

Keep going
