What it is

Where teens belong before they believe it all

The teen years are hard enough without doing them alone. Y116 gives students a place to laugh, be known, wrestle with the real questions, and meet a God who is bigger than any of it. No pretending required.

A night, not a lecture

Youth nights mix games and hangout time with worship and a down-to-earth message from the Bible aimed at what students are really facing. It moves, and nobody is going to make your teen perform.

Part of Family Night

Y116 meets the same evening as the men's, women's, and kids groups, so the whole family can pull up together on Wednesday and each find their people at the same time.

Made for new faces

With Fort Drum nearby, new students arrive all the time. Leaders watch for first-timers on purpose, so a teen can walk in cold and leave having actually connected with someone.

A next step that lasts

When students age out of youth, the Young Adults ministry gives them a place to keep growing, whether they are heading to college, into work, or landing in the North Country on their own.

Straight answers

Youth group questions, answered

What parents and students most want to know before that first Wednesday.

What is Y116 and who is it for?

Y116 is the youth group at Covenant Church, built for students in their teen years. It is a place where teenagers around Black River, Fort Drum, and Watertown can have fun, ask real questions, and grow in their faith alongside other students and leaders who genuinely care about them.

When and where does the youth group meet?

Y116 meets on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 PM as part of Family Night at Covenant Church, 28060 Leray Street, Black River, NY 13612. While the students meet, the men, women, and kids each have their own group at the same time, so the whole family can come together.

What is a typical youth night like?

Expect a mix of games and hanging out, worship, and a straight-talk message from the Bible aimed at what teenagers are actually walking through. It is high energy and welcoming, not stiff or preachy, and there is room to just show up and take it in.

My teen does not know anyone. Will they feel out of place?

New students show up on their own all the time, especially families new to Fort Drum. Our leaders and students look out for first-timers on purpose, so a teen can walk in not knowing anybody and leave having met a few people. Bringing a friend is always welcome too.

Is there a cost, and does my teen have to be religious?

There is no cost, and your teen does not need any church background or to have their beliefs figured out. Questions and doubts are welcome here. All we ask is that students come as they are and treat each other well.

Is there anything for young adults after the teen years?

Yes. Beyond the teen youth group, Covenant also has a Young Adults ministry, so there is a next step and a community as students grow up, head to college or the workforce, or arrive in the area on their own.
